Was drawn to SKV Attorneys by the reviews on Google. Selected them to assist me in a matter. Not cheap. Matter was stuck off the roll first appearance (20th July 2026), and everything was fine. Then after paying a substantial deposit, I requested a final statement. This was due to the fact that one was not automatically received more than 10 days after the matter. I then, being proactive requested the statement. I received the statement and then settled the amount due, and requested a statement reflecting a zero balance. This is where the story takes a turn. I received a statement 2 weeks later (after settling what I thought was the final amount) for R644, this being for : R103.50 (Email sent by client- Statement of acc) and R218.50 (Send email - Statement of account), then again after payment was made and I requested a zero balance; R103.50 (Email sent by client- Payment of acc) and R218.50 (Send email - Payment of account). Thus I am being charged for requesting an account, making payment and then daring to request a zero balance. Now the dilemma; I made the payment, even though unethical in my opinion, and if I want to find out of the matter is not fully paid and want a statement I will have to pay another R664, then have to pay this revolving due amount because I will not get a statement with a zero balance automatically without being billed. So do I pay R1 328 for them to attend to my payment or will another charge be miraculously added. I have over 10 years experience in Billing, and have NEVER come across such a disturbing practice. I will be compiling a formal complaint via the Legal Practice Council.
