“Friday Dinner for 4 The restaurant has a beautiful, fresh ocean-inspired aesthetic with both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a lovely atmosphere. Complimentary bread was served upon arrival, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the à la carte menu felt significantly overpriced for what was delivered. The burger and prawns were average, and the prawns, in particular, were not cooked to perfection. The curry buffet was the highlight of the meal, offering a wide variety of curries with plenty of choice. Dessert, however, was disappointing. The panna cotta was overwhelmed by additional elements to the point where the star of the dish was lost. A good panna cotta should have a delicate wobble, but this one was firm and lacked the expected texture. The kheer was also underwhelming, with an overpowering amount of saffron that dominated the dish. Overall, while the venue is attractive and the curry buffet was enjoyable, the quality and flavour of several dishes did not justify the prices charged. As a result, I felt the dining experience offered poor value for money.”

“We shared a starter of calamari which was plenty for two people. Then we both ordered a grilled Kingklip and they were delicious - very generous portions of really nice flaky fish, perfectly cooked. We ate at the Oyster Box even though we weren't staying at the hotel. Great location to watch the sun set and see the light house lamp flashing. Very friendly and attentive staff made us feel welcome and kept our wine glasses topped up. A great first night meal in Umhlanga”

“Took the family there for my dad's birthday 2 months ago. Service was terrible all round. Nobody even acknowledged us when we arrived. Guests near to us were so loud that we could not even have a conversation amongst ourselves. The food was excellent but if you cannot treat all patrons with the same kindness and respect which was clearly seen with others, then you do not deserve our business.”

I have had nothing but amazing service and food from The Ocean Terrace during our stay so far. The service is exceptional, especially Tonight. The staff is so friendly and the food is great quality. We have also experienced the breakfast buffet which has something for everyone. A must visit in Umhlanga.

A stunning Chinese inspired Dinner. The Oyster Box is always a treat. 100% recommended 👌. The staff are always so lovley. A shout out to Wesley the Manager for checking up on us and ensuring we were happy.
