Butcher Block Umhlanga Ambiance 🎶 The decor is sleek and modern, with a warm, inviting atmosphere. I had an evening reservation just after 7pm on a Friday. The noise level can get quite high during peak hours. However, this is expected due to being such a popular spot. Service 👨🏻‍🍳 The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Our server was prompt and efficient, ensuring our needs were met. Food 🍽️ The food is exceptional. I ordered the Steak and Calamari combo with a side of Mashed Potatoes, which was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The portion was a 200g sirloin steak and a generous handful of calamari. My friend had the 700g Tomahawk Steak, which looked absolutely divine. Value 💵 Great value for money, the quality of the food and service justify the cost. Overall Experience 💯 My experience was excellent. The combination of great food, good service, and pleasant ambiance makes it a top choice for special occasions or business dinners. The food was delicious and really fast. I had the Roquefort snails and they were large and tender, not overcooked or rubbery as they tend to be with large snails. The sauce was creamy and very well balanced and did not have an overpowering Roquefort flavour. I then had the surf and turf with the rump and white wine sauce. The steak was nice and thick and very juicy and my side baked potato was perfect. Service was awesome. Well done team

We were thoroughly disappointed with our recent dining experience at Butcher Block in Durban, South Africa. Upon arrival, we received no greeting or assistance. The menu was provided promptly, but our order was taken after an inordinate delay. Disappointing service and cuisine marred our visit: - Undercooked, oily fries - 25-minute wait for mayonnaise - Overcooked, charred steak, lacking medium-rare consistency - Inattentive service Given our subpar experience, we cannot recommend Butcher Block for steak enthusiasts. Sorry i could not find less than 1*

Best meat and cooking style in town. Once I had the first cut, I was even hungrier 😋. Really juicy . Staff really friendly and can assist very well with some recommendations.

I ordered one of the most expensive steaks - premium fillet. It was not so good - the meat was tender but the taste was bland like it was boiled, definitely not grilled in proper manner. Medium was done as medium well while my friend got rib-eye not medium rare which she asked for but well done as well. You expect much more from such steak-house. The service was not so good as well. The waitress asked us if we were ok with the AC and I asked her to lower it a little, she made an irritated face in reply which was weird because that was what she asked by herself. We finished the lunch disappointed and underwhelmed.
